Settling In
Well the Royal Python seems to be settling in well.
what follows is a few lines on how she is housed.
I have her bedded down on aspen chips, a thin layer
so as not to block too much heat from the thermal mat
under one half of the terrarium. I also have a 40watt
spot light for basking heat over that same side, and
a ‘sunlight’ flourescent for general lighting. that
light does show her colours off well. The heat mat is
plugged into a thermostat and the temp seems to be
holding well at a steady 30°C through the day, but I
do knock it down a few degrees at night.
The terrarium is a Glass Exo Terra terrarium. These are great tanks (I have a couple of others ready for new additions to the collection). I wish I had had these available when I was collecting a few years ago! They are beatifully designed and highly practical. i particularly like the front opening doors with the lower fixed part to the front to help keep the animals in the viv when feeding or servicing them.
Silly me - I forgot to ask when she last fed or sloughed when I picked her up. I’ll have to find out.
