10 x Dwarf white / Trichorhina tomentosa woodlice

Dwarf White Woodlice (Trichorhina tomentosa)

The dwarf white woodlouse, known scientifically as Trichorhina tomentosa, is a tiny crustacean often kept by hobbyists in terrariums and vivariums. Measuring only about 5 millimetres long, these delicate creatures are recognisable by their pale, almost translucent white bodies. They are excellent decomposers, feeding on decaying plant matter and helping to break down organic material in a habitat.

These woodlice thrive in moist environments with plenty of leaf litter or soil. They reproduce quickly and are vivarium favourites for controlling mould and cleaning up waste without causing harm to plants or animals. Easy to care for, dwarf white woodlice prefer stable humidity and temperatures around 20–25°C.

Fun and functional, Trichorhina tomentosa not only help maintain a healthy micro-ecosystem but also provide an intriguing example of nature’s tiny recyclers in action
