Aphonopelma seemanni / Costa rican zebra

The Aphonopelma seemanni, commonly known as the Costa Rican zebra tarantula, is a popular species among tarantula enthusiasts due to its striking black and white striped legs, resembling a zebra pattern. Native to Central America, especially Costa Rica, this tarantula thrives in warm, humid environments.

Temperature and Habitat

In captivity, the ideal temperature for the Costa Rican zebra tarantula ranges from 24°C to 29°C (75°F to 85°F). Maintaining humidity around 65% to 75% is also important to mimic its natural tropical habitat. It prefers a substrate that retains some moisture but is not overly wet, allowing for burrowing behavior.

Size and Growth

This species is considered medium-sized, with adult leg spans typically reaching between 12 and 15 centimeters (about 4.7 to 6 inches). Females tend to be larger and live longer than males. Despite its moderate size, the Costa Rican zebra tarantula is known for its quick movements and sometimes defensive temperament
