Juvenile Cyriocosmus elegans / Trinidad dwarf tarantula /heart butt

The Cyriocosmus elegans, commonly known as the Trinidad dwarf tarantula or "heart butt tarantula" due to the distinctive heart-shaped pattern on its abdomen, is a small and charming species prized by arachnid enthusiasts. Native to Trinidad, this tarantula is known for its calm demeanor and stunning appearance, making it a great choice for captive care.

These tarantulas typically stay under 4 cm in body length and prefer a humid environment with moderate temperatures around 24–28°C. A small, secure enclosure with plenty of substrate for burrowing, along with some hiding spots, helps mimic their natural habitat. Feeding consists mainly of tiny insects like pinhead crickets and fruit flies, offered weekly.

They are relatively low-maintenance but require careful humidity control to avoid dehydration. Gentle handling is recommended, as their small size makes them delicate. With patience and proper care, the Cyriocosmus elegans can be a fascinating and delightful pet for both beginners and experienced keepers
