Tapinauchenius rasti / Caribbean Diamond

Tapinauchenius rasti, commonly known as the Caribbean Diamond, is a stunning tarantula native to the Caribbean islands. Known for its striking iridescent blue legs and diamond-shaped patterns on its abdomen, this species is a favourite among tarantula enthusiasts.

When caring for a Caribbean Diamond, provide a well-ventilated enclosure with moderate humidity around 70%. Keep the substrate slightly moist but not wet, using coconut fibre or peat moss to mimic its natural environment. These spiders prefer a temperature range of 24–28°C (75–82°F).

Tapinauchenius rasti is arboreal, so include vertical climbing spaces like cork bark or branches. They can be fast and skittish, so handle with care and avoid excessive disturbance. Their diet mainly consists of crickets, roaches, and other appropriately sized insects.

With proper care, the Caribbean Diamond tarantula can live for several years and impress with its beautiful colouration and fascinating behaviour
